A Workshop for Home Visiting Providers (Alameda)
The ECC Training Institute is pleased to announce a unique
training opportunity to support providers in the area of basic
child development. Child Development 101 is being offered
in a three session series of three-hour trainings starting
in March 2010 (commitment to all three sessions is required.)
This is an introductory level child and family development
overview – not appropriate for a child development specialist,
but great for someone whose background has not included formal

Preparation Services at the Fremont Family Resource Center

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program provides
FREE income tax assistance to qualified taxpayers earning
up to $52,000 annually. VITA helps working families take advantage
of all the tax credits they are eligible for including the
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), and
education credits. IRS certified VITA volunteer preparers
from the community help prepare basic, current year tax returns
for eligible taxpayers free of charge.

New Mexico Bilingual Storyteller To Perform in Monterey
County Libraries (Monterey)
Liz Mangual, with Bob Kanegis, The Tales & Trails Storytellers
returns to Monterey County libraries to share stories with
everyone who is “Older than Yesterday But Younger than
Tomorrow. Liz is the Director of Future WAVE- Working for
Alternatives to Violence Through Entertainment. She offers
literacy and conflict transformation programs during the school
year, and travels from coast to coast during the summer performing
for library summer reading programs. She encourages family
storytelling through initiatives such as, The Endangered Stories
Act and F.E.A.S.T(Families Eating and Storytelling Together.)
and We Have Stories To Tell. Liz is a bilingual English/Spanish
storyteller and delights in sharing stories from her native
